Functional exercise for chronic nephritis

(1) In recovery period, patients with chronic nephritis should take proper exercises, and should mainly focus on taking edurable exercises and proper muscle exercises.
Endurable exercises include: walking, jogging, Taichi, Qigong (dynamic power), various setting-up exercises and moderate intensity badminton or table tennis, etc.
Enhancing myosthenic exercised include: hold light object (1 - 2.5 kg) when do setting-up exercises, take 1 - 2 sets for each time and do 2 - 3 times each day. Patients also can use chest-developer for exercise according to their physical strength. The times can be increased gradually.

(2) The exercise volume: The suitable exercise intensity for chronic nephritis patients is moderate, i.e. the heart rate when exercising reaches 110 times per minute, and the time should be controlled in 20-30 minutes.

(3) Exercise arrangement: once a day, doing warming-up, training activities and cooling-down exercises for each time.
Warming-up: patients can do radio calisthenics or several setting-up exercises to exercise the body for about 5-10 minutes.

(4) Training activities: there are two kinds of exercises. One is continuous training exercise, take jogging as an example, patients can continuously do exercise for 10-15 minutes when the heart rate reach at 105-110 times per minute. The other is intermittent training exercise. Patients can choose 2-3 sports as a group, such as a group of jogging, chest-developer and Tai Chi, after doing one exercise sport for 3-5 minutes, take a rest for 2-3 minutes, then do the second exercise or do the third exercise after resting for a while, the total exercise time should not exceed 20 minutes. 

(5) Note:

b. The exercise should be taken in the outdoors, and taken indoor when the weather is cold , foggy, windy or snowy.
c. Patients should stop doing exercises if the weather is too hot to avoid dehydration due to sweating, causing renal function aggravation.
d. Patients should not fatigue, poor appetite or insomnia after exercise.
e. Have an examination in the hospital regularly. If the blood pressure, blood nitrogen and blood fat are not exceed the normal value, it shows that the exercise is appropriate, otherwise, patients should reduce the exercise volume.
