Acupuncture Point Zhibian (BL54)
Location:
Lie pronely; on the same level with sacral hiatus, 3 cun apart from the posterior median line latterally.

Function:
Relaxing the muscles and tendons and removing obstruction from the channels and collaterals, strengthening the waist and knee, and regulating the lower-jiao.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-middle gluteal muscle-least gluteal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the middle and inferior clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the superior and inferior gluteal arteries and veins, and the superior and inferior gluteal nerves.

Indications:
Lumbago, Sciatica, hemiparalysis, paralysis of the lower limbs, Hemorrhoids, proctoptosis, urocystitis, and genital diseases.

Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of progressive myodystrophy; and with YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatment of urocystitis, urethritis.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1.5-2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the foot.
