Cupping (Suction cup) for the Treatment of Sinusitis in TCM

This disease pertains to the conception of "nasosinusitis" in TCM caused by accumulation of pathogenic factors in the nasal cavity due to failure of pulmonary qi to disperse resulting from exogenous pathogenic cold and heat attack; or by failure of qi and blood to nourish the nose due to asthenia of the spleen and lung.

Location cupped and methods:
Acupoints selected: Dazhui, Fengmen (BL 12), Shenshu (BL23), Feishu (BL 13), Ganshu (BL 18), Zhongwan, Taiyuan (LU9), Hegu (LI 4), Fenglong (ST 40)

Cupping methods:
Cupping: you should use the putting fire into cup or cupping after flash of fire method to suck Dazhui, Shenzhu, Feishu, Hegu; or you could adopt cupping method of air pump.

Acucupping: you should use needles to prick dazhui, shenzhu, fengmen, feishu, zhongwan, fenglong. After the patient has some feeling, you should adopt cupping or cupping method of air pump to suck the above acupoints.

Cupping of venesection: after disinfecting the acupoints of Dazhui, Feishu, Ganshu and Taiyuan, you should prick each acupoints for 2-3 times with three-edged needles and then you should adopt cupping after flash of fire to suck them.
