In the early part of this century English and American missions jointly ran a Union Medical College in Beijing.In 1915 the U.S.Rockefeller Foundation,which founded medical schools based on scientific research around the world,bought it and changed its name to Peking Union Medical College (Beijing Xiehe Yixueyuan).It became the wealthiest and most advanced foreign-run medical school in China.Now it is named Beijing Union Medical University.Fig.1 shows the college under construction in 1917；Fig.2,the gate of the college in 1 92 1,when the building was completed；Fig.3,the Library Building in 1925.
