Acupuncture Extra Point Zhongquan (EX-UE3)
Location:
Pronate one's palm; on the transverse stria ofdorsal carpus, at the midpoint of the line connecting YangxiLI5(Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point) and YangchiTE4 (Yangchi (TE4) Yuan-Source Point).

Function:
Regulating the flow of qi.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-between tendons of extensor muscle and short radial extensor muscle of wrist.
There are posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm, the branches of the superficial branch of the radial nerve, the dorsal venous network of the hand and the branches of the dorsal carpal branch of the radial artery in this area.

Indications:
Stuffy sensation in the chest, gastric pain, and with blood sputum in certain cases.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local soreness and distension, or electric shock sensation radiating toward the tips of the fingers or to the elbow; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-15 min.
