Acupuncture Point Shuaigu (GB8)
Location:
Sit upright or lie prostrate on one's side; fold the auricle half and half vertically, 1.5 cun vertically above the auricular tip within hairline.

Function:
Dispersing wind, regulating the functions of the stomach, resolving phlegm and relieving pain.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-superior auricular muscle-temporal fascia-temporal muscle.
There are the anastomotic branches of the auriculotemporal and greater occipital nerves and the parietal branches of the superficial temporal artery and vein in this area.

Indications:
Migraine, Vertigo, vomiting, and infantile convulsion.

Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of cerebral thrombosis and encephalorrhagia; and with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of vertigo.

Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.3-0.5 cun depth; needling response: local numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
