Gruel for Restoring and Invigorating Qi

INGREDIENTS
Prepared astragalus root, Radix Astragali (Huangqi)   20g
Dangshen, Radix Codonopsis (Dangshen)   10g
Polished round-grained rice, Semen Oryzae Sativae  100g
White sugar  right amount

PROCESS: Cut astragalus roots and dangshen into slices and soak them in clear water for 40 minutes, decoct them in water to get 30 ml of condensed extract. Make gruel with the washed rice; put in the condensed extract and go on cooking for a while.

DIRECTIONS: Take it with as much white sugar as you think fit, twice a day, in the morning and in the evening respectively.

EFFICACY: Invigorating the vital-qi, treating consumptive diseases and delaying senility.

INDICATIONS: Impairment of the function of internal organs, emotional strain, infirmity due to old age, emaciation caused by prolonged illness, manifested as palpitation and shortness of breath, weakness, spontaneous perspiration, in appetence, protracted diarrhea due to insufficiency of the spleen, and so on.

PRECAUTIONS: Generally, eat such gruel for 3 to 5 days successively, resume eating 2 to 3 days later. Radish and tea are prohibited during the period of taking such gruel.
