The meaning of green is often associated with calming, balancing, healing, relaxing and tranquil—it is the most restful color on the eye. Green represents growth, vitality, abundance, and nature. The color green also stimulates positivity and is very inspiring. Some common properties of the color green include:

Abundance
Balancing / Calming / Healing
Energy / Growth
Nature / Earth
Relaxing / Peaceful / Soothing / Tranquil
Renewal / Vitality
Inspiring / Hopeful

Different hues of green have different meanings. For instance, a bluish green is colder, fastidious, and sensitive, while a yellowish green is stimulating, lighter, and less serious. A light bluish green is refreshing and a neutral green is calming.

The most common meaning of green is its association with nature, renewal, and growth. Consequently, green is an excellent color to enhance and cultivate spiritual growth and wisdom in the skills and knowledge area of the feng shui bagua. It is also a wonderful color for the family and elders area of the bagua to promote healing and balance.
Greens and blues are particularly beneficial in a proper feng shui bathroom because these colors represent peacefulness, tranquility, purification, life, and new beginnings. Green brings a sense of vitality and freshness.

Although the color green is often associated with healing, tranquility, and renewal, if used in excess it can become common, tiresome, and monotonous. Color psychology suggests that green can even lead to na?ve idealism since it can make people ungrounded.

Green also has a bit darker side as a symbol of death, decay and sickness.

The meaning of green as described in "The Herder Dictionary of Symbols: symbols from art, archaeology, literature and religion" is as follows:

"Green is the color of the plant kingdom, particularly of awakening springtime, it is also the color of water, life, and freshness. It mediates between the red of hellfire and the blue of heaven. Often green is the opponent of red, but sometimes (as the color of life) it also represents red. As the color of the annual renewal of nature, moreover, green is the color of hope, long life, and immortality.

In China the meaning of green is symbolically associated with lightning and thunder, wood element and the yin principle (see yin and yang .)

In Islam, green is the color of material and spiritual salvation, wisdom, and the prophets.

The mythological ideas of many peoples reveal close connections and transformations between red and green. In Africa, for example, green, which represents the feminine, is sometimes seen as proceeding from the masculine red.

The alchemists often saw the transformation processes as the interactions among realms that were symbolized by the masculine red and feminine green. The "green light" plays a role for alchemists and occultists. It occurs in nature and during the burning of various chemical substances, as well as in the form of the extremely infrequently observed "green ray" of the rising or setting sun. It is a symbol of illumination, and is associated with life and death. The alchemists also saw the so-called secret fire, which was "the living spirit," in the image of a green, translucent, and fusible crystal. In alchemy, green in compound forms such as "green lion" and "green dragon" usually designates solvents that are capable of dissolving even gold.

The Christian artists of the Middle Ages sometimes painted Christ’s cross green as a sign of the renewal brought about by Christ and as an expression of humanity’s hope of return to paradise. In mediaeval art green also has a negative meaning as the color of poison and of a threatening glance
