Using foot massage to treat Abnormal position of fetus

The occital presentation is the normal position of the fetus in childbirth. Other presentations including face, breech, horizontal and arm positions are all abnormal fetal positions.
   
Treatment:
Foot massage: The massage is applied to kidney (22), reproductive gland (36), uterus (50), adrenal gland (21) and pituitary gland (4) reflecting areas. The foot is held with one hand by the physician and the knuckle of the first interphalangeal joint of the other index finger is used to apply deep pressure on the reflecting areas 3-4 times (Fig. 87).
   
Foot acupuncture:
Meridianal acupoints: A balanced reinforce-reducing acupuncture technique is applied at bilateral Zhiying for 15 to 20 minutes, once or twice a day, or moxibustion at both acupoints is applied for 15 to 20 minutes, once or twice a day until the abnormal fetal position is corrected.
   
External application of drugs: An adequate amount of fresh ginger and green onion is pounded to prepare a paste for application to uterus (50), reproductive gland (36) and kidney (22) reflecting areas on foot and covered by oily paper and adhesive plaster. The paste is changed every 2-3 days, 7 times, as a therapeutic course.
