Inquire patients’ medical history carefully, check external auditory canal and tympanic membrane, take the examination of tuning fork and puretone threshold to find out the properties and degrees of the deafness. For the children and disoperative adult, doctor can take objective audiometry, such as acoustic impedance audiometry, auditory brainstem responses (ABR) audiometry and electrocochleogram.
The attack of deafness without aura, few patients have slightly cold, fatigue, and emotional agitation. The deafness occurs suddenly, and aggravates quickly within one hour or one week. The onset of some patients occurs in the morning or getting up after afternoon nap. The urgent onset of patients is deaf after hearing a sounding of "whir" or "rattle" in the ears.
