Herbal Therapy
1) Internal Medicine
(1) Syndrome of Wind and Heat Accumulating in the Skin
Therapeutic Methods:Expel wind, clear away heat, relieve exterior and stop pruritus.
Formula: Modified "Xiao Feng Powder".
(2) Fire syndrome derived from stagnation of liver-energy
Therapeutic Methods Soothe the liver, regulate qi, clear away heat and fire.
Formula: Modified "Dan Zhi Xiao Yao Powder" .
(3) Syndrome of Blood Deficiency and Wind-Dryness
Therapeutic Methods Nourish blood, expel wind,moisten the skin and stop pruritus.
Formula: Modified "Yang Xue Ding Feng Decoction".
2) External Medicine
a. External Therapy It is advisable to use "Jia Wei Huanglian Ointment" or " Huanglian Ointment" or "Huangbaishuang" externally on the infected areas, twicea day. It is advisable to use "Heidou Liu Oil Ointment" externally, twice a day, and to smear "Zhi Yang Tincture" externally, twice or three times a day.
b. Ingredients: Tujinpi(Cortex Pseudolaricis) 30g, Fructus Cnidii (Shechuangzi) 30g, Baibugen(the root of radix stemonae) 30g, Wubeizi(Chinese gall)24g, Mituoseng(lithargite) 18g, Qingfen(calomel) 6g
Administration: Grind the above drugs into fine powder and mix with vinegar to make it become pasty for external use. Clean the affected part with soup, then spread drugs on, once a day. There may have stimulating feeling at the beginning but it will disappear after 2-3 days. Breaking of the treatment should be avoided.
c. Ingredients: Equivalent Jiucai(chinese chives) and garlic
Administration: Smash them into paste, and spread on the affected part. Usually use it for 2-5times. For the beginning, it will have stimulating feeling paste which will disappear after using 3 times, scar will appear on the affected part. The disease is cured when the scar falls off.
d. Ingredients: Cortex Cinnamomi (Rougui), alcohol
Administration: Grind the Rougui into fine powder, mix with alcohol until it becomes paste and spread on the affected part, it is better to protect the health skin from this drug. It may have burning feeling on the affected part, take off the drug in two hours and see the skin black, it is cured after the scar falls off in several days.
2. Acupuncture Therapy
1) Acupoints: Hegu (LI 4), Quchi (LI 11), Xuehai (SP 10), Fengshi (GB31), Ashi Points.
2) Operation: Point press every acupoint above for 3-5 minutes, 2-3 times a day.
3. Cupping Therapy
Cupping Method:
a. Ashi acupoint ( affected part): Practice cupping on the affected part and keep the jar on it for 30-40 minutes.
b. Practice cupping on Dazhui(GV14), Shen dao(GV11), both sides of Feishu (BL 13), Xinshu (BL15), Geshu (BL17), Ganshu (BL 18), Pishu (BL20), Xuehai (SP 10), Quchi (LI 11), andretain the cup on every acupoint mentioned above for 30-40 minutes.
Cautions:
1) Don't eat fish, shrimp and other seafood and spicy and irritation food.
2) Don't scratch, bask in the sun and wash with hot water.
3) Because of the long treatment course, the patient should insist on practicing cupping and clearing toxin with patience to reach a good effect.
