The patient is in the supine position. Standing by the patient’ s foot side, the practitioner clips the ankle of the suffered limb, keeps the leg straight and the hip flexed to 30 degrees and treads against the bed legs with the toe, then shakes the ankle up and down. The range of shaking varies from broad to narrow. The frequency varies from low to high, but generally speaking, it is slower than shaking the upper limb. The frequency of the former is about 200 to 240 times a minute, while the frequency of this manipulation is about 140 to 1 60 times a minute. The manipulation is applicable to the treatment of pain and motion disorder in the hip and knee joints. It is usually applied as a final manipulation (Fig 306).
