[Location] Localized in the supine position, on the anterior median line of the neck, in the center of the suprasternal fossa. (Fig.76)
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→between two sternal heads of sternocleidomasoid muscles →superior side of suprasternal notch→between bilateral sternothyroid muscles→anterior space of trachea. Superficial layer, there are the medial supraclavicular nerve, the platysma and the jugular arch of veins in the subcutaneous tissues; deep layer, there are some important structures, including the brachiocephalic trunk, the left common carotid artery, the aortic arch and the brachiocephalic vien.
