[Location] Localized in the erect sitting position. Raise head slightly or take the supine position. It is on the lateral side of the neck, on the side of the Adam's apple, between the front margin and the back margin of the m. sternocleidomastoideus. ( Fig. 16 )
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→between the sternal head and clavicular head of sternocleidomastoideus muscle →posterior border of carotid sheath. Superficial layer, the transverse jugular nerve and the platysma muscle; deep layer, there is the carotid sheath.
