Acupuncture Point Huangshu (KI16)
Location:
Supine position; 0.5 cun laterally apart from umbilicus.

Function:
Regulating the function of intestines and the flow of qi, and clearing and activating the channels and collaterals.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the periumbilical subcutaneous venous network, the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the arteiovenous network formed by the anastomosis of the superior epigastric artery and veins with the inferior epigastric arteries and veins, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves and the related intercostal and veins.

Indications:
Gastrospasm, hernia, enteritis, dysentery, habitual constipation, hiccup, hematophthalmia, keratitis, and icterus.

Prescription:
Combined use with Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine) and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteroparalysis; and with Henggu (KI 11) for treatment of urethritis and five types of stranguria.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local distension and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Huangshu (KI16) its related organs include mainly the greater omentum and the small intestine, etc. in the abdominal cavity.
