Acupuncture Point Xiabai (LU4)
Location:
Sitting position; on the lateral border of the tendon of brachial biceps, 5 cun above the transverse stria of elbow.

Function:
Regulating the lung and stomach.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-brachial muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cephalic vein and the lateral cutaneous nerve of the arm. In the deep layer, there are the muscular braches of the brachial artery and vein and the braches of the musculocut aneous nerve.

Indications:
Cough, Asthma; retching, dysphoria and precordial pain, short breath; pain in the medial side of the upper arm, tinea versicolor, etc.

Prescription:
Combined with Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) and Tongli (HT5) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of angina pectoris; with Jinggu (BL64) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of valvulopathy; with Ximen (PC4) Xi-Cleft Point), Jianshi (PC5) Jing-River Point), Daling (PC7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), Neiguan (PC6) and TianquanPC2 (Tianquan (PC2)) for treatment of brachial plexus neuralgia.

Methods:
Direction: Puncture perpendicularly or obliquely; depth: 0.8-1 cun; needling response: local sensation of distention, irradiating downward; moxibustion: 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 10-20 min.
