Burdock root, devil's claw, and yucca all have anti-inflammatory action. Take 500 milligrams of each three times daily. Or brew a tea using equal parts of all three herbs and drink one cup of this decoration three times daily for one month. A topical compress of castor oil provides exceptional relief. Warm a small amount of castor oil to a comfortably hot temperature and saturate a clean white cloth with the oil. Fold the cloth into a pad and apply it to the affected area. If you have a great deal of pain, you can use this compress twice a day for twenty minutes at a time.

Cayenne (capsicum) has been used topically since ancient times to relieve pain. Select an ointment containing 0.0075 percent capsaicin (the heat in this hot herb) in a cream base. Four or five times a day, apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub it completely into skin. Be sure to wash your hands well after using the cream. Horsetail supplies natural silica, which is required for tissue repair and healing. Take 500 milligrams three times daily.

Pine-bark and grape-seed extracts are natural anti-inflammatory with antioxidant properties. Take 50 milligrams of either three times daily. Turmeric is a strong natural anti-inflammatory. Take 500 milligrams three times daily.
