(1) Puncturing and Bleeding

Points: Shixuan (Ex-UEll), Weizhong (BL 40), Chize (LU5), Tianshu (ST25), Dachangshu (BL 25), Zhongwan (Ren 12) and Zusanli (ST 36)

Technique: Shixuan (Ex-UEll), Weizhong (BL 40) and Chize(LU5) are pricked with a three-edged needle to cause bleeding. The rest points are punctured with the filiform needle with rotating, thrusting and lifting technique. The needles are retained for 30 minutes and manipulated once every five to 10 minutes. The treatment is given once a day. The method is for bacillary dysentery.

(2) Pricking and Cupping

Points: Four points 1 cun around the umbilicus.

Technique: Pricking is given by a three-edged needle on the points and cupping is followed to get a little blood. The cup is retained for five to 10 minutes. The treatment is given once or twice a day. The proper treatment is applied for dehydrant acidosis and other complications.
