Point: Shoulder joint.

Technique: Insert a l.5-cun needle horizontally along the scapha upward about one cun deep, manipulating the needle for five minutes until the patient indicates the ear has become hot, and you can see it is red and feels hot. Retain the needle for 12 to 24 hours, or 36 hours at maximum. During the retention of the needle, whenever there is desire of defecation, rotate the needle for five minutes and this will disappear.
