(1) Selecting Separate Groups of Points

Points: (1) Kunlun (BL60) and Houxi (SI 3). ② Renzhong (GV 26), penetration from Hegu (LI 4) to Laogong (PC8). ③ Baihui (GV 20), penetration from Neiguan (PC6) to Waiguan (TE5)

Technique: Perform the acupuncture treatment once a day, choosing one group of points in each treatment. Apply reducing manipulation achieved by lifting, thrusting and rotating. The method is used to treat hysteria.

(2) Needling Tiantu (Ren 22)

Points: Tiantu (Ren 22) and Shangchi (on dorsum of hand, between the second and third metacarpal bones, 1.5 cun posterior to the metacarpophalangeal joint).

Technique: Needle Tiantu (Ren 22) with the needle tip pointing downward. Needle Shangchi perpendicularly, apply rotating and scrap manipulation on all needles, giving strong stimulation and combining psychological suggestion to treat globus hystericus. According to clinical observation of 440 cases, a total recovery rate came to 88%.

(3) Needling Yinbao (LR9) Deeply

Point: Yinbao (LR8)

Technique: Tell the patient to sit (Someone should assist the patient). Use the thicker needle, inserting it deeply to a depth of 3 to 4 cun. When something like a cord is felt under the needle, one should try to avoid puncturing it. The method is indicated for hysteria.

(4) Choosing Mainly the Eight Confluent Points

Point: Houxi (SI 3), Shenmai (BL62), Neiguan (PC6), Taichong (LR 3) and Fenglong (ST 40)

Technique: Apply reducing needling technique to treat once a day and retain the needles for 30 minutes. The treatment is good for mental derangement, liability to cry, protruding/staring eyes and inability to sleep the whole night.

(5) Selecting the Yuan-primary Point of Pericardium Meridian       Point: Daling (PC7)

Technique: Needle Daling (PC7) of both sides, retaining the needles for 20 minutes. This method is mainly to treat globus hystericus.
