Cupping (suction cup) can prevent carsickness and seasickness

Carsickness and seasickness are common diseases. They main symptoms are: during the transportation on car or on board, the patients suffer from dizziness, nausea, vomit, pale complexion, fatigue, etc. Although this sickness is not a serious disease, it makes much inconvenience for the sufferers. The occurrence of the sickness is due to the weakness of body, deficiency of the heart and spleen and insufficiency of qi and blood which can not nourish the brain, leading to malnourishment of the head and eyes; or damp and stagnant phlegm due to over intake foods with heavy taste and fat, thus the upper seven orifices ; or weak constitution with excessive yang, together with mental distension, therefore, the flow of qi is unsmooth and qi is transformed into inter heat, disturbing the upper seven orifices. Usually, all the reasons mentioned above would influence each other and transform into each other, but, it is often seen as weak constitution and deficiency of qi and blood.

Cupping manipulation
Principle of treatment: Strengthen spleen and kidney, nourish and cultivate qi and blood.
Acupoints selected: Zusanli (ST 36), Shenque, Neiguan (PC6), Weishu (BL21), Fenglong (ST 40), etc.

Method: Select the acucupping or stationary cupping. For acucupping, it is better to use the reinforcing technique or neutral supplementation and draining method and cup the acupoints when esthesia is
Obtained: for stationary cupping, the cups should be retained for about 15 minutes until red stasis spots can be seen on the skin. Manipulate the cupping one time weekly and ten times as one course of treatment. For the patient belongs to deficiency of qi and blood, Qihai, Geshu and Pishu should be added for cupping; for the patient suffers from, Fenglong, Gongsun and Zhongwan should be added for cupping; for the patient suffers from hyperactivity of liver-yang, Taichong,Taiyang and Neiting should be added for cupping.

When the symptoms of carsickness and seasickness occurs during transportation of car or ship and it is impossible for manipulation of cupping, glass cup or small medicine bottle can be used for cupping. It also takes good effect when is applied. Or the adoption of acupressure on the acupoints mentioned above can also relieve or remove the symptoms of carsickness and seasickness.
