TCM Diagnosis for Ascites

TCM diagnosis Based on Syndrome Differentiation:
1) Qi Deficiency:
Symptoms:  abdominal fullness, less urination, body weight loss, afternoon, hot flashes, bad wind, spontaneous sweating, eat less bloating, loose stools, easy cold, tongue little red tongue, thin weak pulse.

2) Stagnation of Qi and Blood:
Symptoms: abdominal fullness, bulging but not hard, ribs swelling of the liver swelling or pain, less urination, dry stools and more, Heating vector gas is temporarily alleviate abdominal distension, anorexia, fatigue, pulse strings, thin white or greasy fur.

3) Spleen Deficiency Syndrome:
Symptoms: abdominal fullness, particularly into the night, less urination, poor appetite, fatigue, cold extremities edema, loose stools thin, backache, dizziness, pale complexion or pale, fat, pale tongue, moss little thin weak pulse.

4) Liver Kidney Yin Deficiency:
Symptoms: abdominal fullness, particularly into the night, less urination, body weight, hands and feet and heart heat, afternoon fever, dry mouth, dry lips, backache, dizziness, stools and more dry, red tongue.


Diagnosis in Western Medicine:
Ascites represents accumulation of fluid inside the peritoneal cavity. The fluid is usually the transparent, pale or slightly colored. Ascites is also known as peritoneal cavity fluid. Accumulation of fluid inside the peritoneal cavity most commonly affects people suffering from advanced liver cirrhosis and severe liver dysfunction. However, it may be also a characteristic of other systemic diseases and disorders such as congestive heart failure, kidney failure, peritoneal inflammation etc. After a set of questions the doctor examines the patient. He/ she performs physical examination. The doctor will do a physical exam to determine the amount of swelling in your belly. You may also have the following tests to assess your liver and kidneys:
