Gruel with Lucid Asparagus Root for Nourishing Yin

INGREDIENTS
Lucid asparagus root, Radix Asparagi  15 to 20g
Polished round-grained rice, Seman Oryzae Sativae  60g
Crystal sugar  right amount

PROCESS: First, decoct lucid asparagus roots in water to get concentrated extract, remove the dregs; put in the polished round-grained rice to make gruel; add crystal sugar after it has boiled and go on cooking for a while.

DIRECTIONS: Take the gruel once in the morning and once in the evening respectively.

EFFICACY: Replenishing the vital essence and moisturizing the lung, and promoting production of the body fluid to quench thirst.

INDICATlONS:  Interior heat syndrome due to deficiency of the kidney-yin, marked by dry mouth; heat syndrome caused by deficiency of the lung-yin, manifested as dry cough with little or no sputum, sputum mixed with blood; pulmonary tuberculosis with symptoms of low fever in the afternoon and night sweating.

PRECAUTIONS: Take such gruel for 3 to 5 days as a course of treatment; resume taking it three days later; those who suffer from abdominal pain due to cold of deficiency type, cough due to affection by wind-cold should not take such gruel.
