It results from excessive heat or accumulation of heat in the intestine and the stomach during an exogenous febrile disease. It is divided into yangming channel syndrome and yangming fu-organs syndrome.

This indicates excessive heat in the interior before dross in the intestine turns into coproma. It is manifested as high fever profuse sweating, extreme thirst, irritability and delirium, harsh breathing like dyspnea, yellow and dry coating of the tongue, full and large pulse.

The latter syndrome is an excessive heat syndrome in the interior caused by mixture of pathogenic heat in the interior with dross in the intestine, and manifested as tidal fever, delirium, constipation, abdominal fullness and pain with tenderness, polyhidrosis on the hands and the feet, deep and firm pulse, or carphology, staring steadily, and fidgets in serious cases.
