Remains of Well with Bucket
Shang Dynasty
Unearthed at the Shang Remains, Taixi Village, Gaocheng, Hebei Province in 1973. There are two wells at the site, near the foundation of a house.  The wooden bucket, d:24.8 cm, h: 23.7 cm, was found at the bottom of the well. It is a flattened oval, resembling a helmet, with symmetrical holes at its two sides for attaching a rope. It was shaped from a single piece of wood.
