External Medicine
Fumigation and Irrigation MethodIt is suitable for internal and external hemorrhoids and especially suitable for prolapse of internal hemorrhoid and tumefaction and pain in external hemorrhoid. The commonly used herbal drugs are Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis), Radix Flavescentis (Kushen), Cortex Phellodendri (HuangBai), Shanzhizi (Fructus Gardeniae), Alumen (Mingfan), etc. This method is used once a day and for 30 minutes each time.
Application Method:For prolapse of internal hemorrhoid and inflammation in external hemorrhoid, it is advisable to choose "Xiao Zhi Ointment" for external application.
Herb Inserting Method:After herbal drugs are made into suppository, it is advisable to insert it into the rectum, for it possesses the functions to diminish lump, stop pain, heal the wound and stop bleeding, such as "Zhi Chuang Troche".
Hemorrhoid Withering Method:There are two types of "Ku Zhi Powder" and "Ku Zhi Troche" in this hemorrhoid withering method, frequently for phaseⅡand Ⅲ internal hemorrhoid. "Ku Zhi Powder" is more effective for hemorrhoid with fresh red surface or blue and purple surface. In application, the cotton paper should be used to isolate the peripheral skin of hemorrhoid. "Hui Zao Powder" is effective for hemorrhoid with gray and white surface, but its side effect is strong and easy to damage the normal tissue. "Ku Zhi Troche" is used to insert into hemorrhoid in actual application. But,it is used very seldom at present.
Acupoints Massage
1) Pressing Changqiang (GV 1) before sleep for about 5 minutes can improve anal blood circulation.
2) Press sole reflection areas. Sit on a chair, put a foot upon other leg, then knead one second parts of the sole by thumbs.
3) Press anus. Paste two-layer of medical gauze (or clean silk) into the anus tightly, put right fore finger and middle finger upon the gauze, then press the anus, loosen for a while, then press, repeat it for 50-70 times with appropriate force, insist on practicing for two times a day. It’s better to practice after prolonged sitting or defecation, and practice anal contraction exercise after pressing.
4) Press sacrum. Pressing sacrum and all round of it by fingers can improve anal blood circulation, and treat or prevent hemorrhoids effectively. Ask patient adopts a prone position, press sacrum and its around by two thumbs, press with force when aspiration, loosen the force when inspiration. Press with four finger first, then stimulate with fist.
5) Press Kongzui (LU6). This acupoint is one of the effective acupoints to treat hemorrhoids.
Guasha Therapy
1) Acupoints selected: Baihui (GV20). Back and lumbosacral regions: Geshu (BL17), Shenshu (BL23), Guanyuanshu (BL 26), Ciliao (BL32), Changqiang (GV 1), Chengshan (BL57), Zusanli (ST 36), Fenglong (ST 40).
2) Manipulation: Hold the Guasha board, keep 45 degrees with the skin, and scrape the above acupoints. Baihui (GV20) should be scraped by digital pressing manipulation, acupoints on the back and lumbosacral regions should be applied with reducing manipulation, Zusanli (ST 36) should be scraped with reinforcing manipulation. Select different acupoints and manipulations according to different asthenia and sthenic symptoms.
Cupping Therapy
1) Acupoints selected: Huiyang (BL35), Baihuaishu, Dachangshu (BL25), Chengshan (BL57) and the special site of lumbosacral area (the color is red lilac or pink with slight eminence, the shape as needle cap).
2) Cupping methods:
You should use the acupuncture needles to prick the above acupoints. After the patient gets some feeling, you should use cupping after flash of fire to suck the pricked sites for 10-20 minutes once a day and six times as a treatment period. Or you can select 2-3 special sites and use cupping of venesection to suck them for 10-15 minutes once every other day and six times as a course of treatment.
Foot Massage
Basic reflection areas: adrenal gland, spleen, colon.
Related reflection areas: anus, rectum.
Symptom reflection areas: lymph node of the upper and lower body.
Reflexotherapy is taken up of 10-15 times as a course of treatment, 30-40 times each time, 1-2 times each day, repeat it after 1-2 days. Soak both feet with light salt water to recover the sensitivity of feet to massage.
