[Location] Localized in the erect sitting position or supine position, on the region of the face, anterior to the tragus and posterior to the condyloid process of the mandible, in the depression formed when the mouth is open. (Fig.29)
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→the cartilage of the external acoustic meatus. The distribution of the auriculotemporal nerve, and the branches or the subordiantial ramus of the auricular branches of the superficial temporal artery and vein.
