Medicinal Gruel with Sparrow for Prolonging Life

INGREDIENTS
Sparrow, Passer Montanus saturatus   5
Dodder seed, Semen Cuscutae  30 to 45g
Raspberry, Fructus Rubi   10 to 15g
Wolfberry fruit, Fructus Lycii  20 to 30g
Polished round-grained rice, Senzen Oryzae Sativae  60g
Refined salt, Sal Communis   a bit
Scallion stalk, Bulbus Allii Fistulosi   2
Fresh ginger, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens  3 slices

PROCESS: First, decoct the dodder seeds, raspberry and wolfberry fruit together in an earthenware pot to obtain medicinal extract and remove the dregs; have the sparrows rid of the feathers, the intestines and other internal organs, wash them clean and parch them in wine; cook the sparrows, rice and medicinal extract with addition of the right amount of water to make thin gruel. When it is about to be done, put in refined salt, scallion stalks and fresh ginger.

DIRECTIONS: Take such gruel once in the morning and once in the evening, on an empty stomach.

EFFICACY: Invigorating yang-qi, replenishing the essence and blood, tonifying the liver and kidney.

INDICATIONS: Symptoms caused by deficiency of the kidney-qi such as Iimpotence, Seminal Emission and premature mission, giddiness, dim eyesight, Tinnitus and Sudden Deafness, enuresis and, in women, Leukorrhagia. For old people, it can improve health and prolong life if taken frequently over a long period of time.

PRECAUTIONS: It is fit to be taken in winter, 3 to 5 Those who have a fever or sexual hyperesthesia should not take it.
